As part of European Health and Safety Week, the DigiEcoQuarry project has made notable strides in implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance working conditions in the mining sector. The project has deployed camera- and sensor-based hazard recognition systems, which allow for the detection of dangerous conditions on transport routes and the presence of personnel near heavy machinery. These innovations not only improve safety but also optimise operational efficiency through real-time monitoring of conditions.
Furthermore, the collision detection system has advanced risk reduction in fixed plant operations by utilising artificial intelligence to identify people and objects near machinery. These technological solutions enable more informed and precise decision-making, reducing accidents and promoting a safer, more sustainable working environment in mining operations
