On 13 May 2025, UEPG’s headquarters in Brussels will become the focal point of a high-level European discussion on the future of mining and raw materials. The CRM4EU Clustering Event, organized by the EU-funded project DigiEcoQuarry, will bring together leaders and innovators from five cutting-edge Horizon 2020 projects to present their contributions toward building a more sustainable, digital, and resilient raw materials value chain across Europe.

The event, held under the title The Future of Mining in Europe – Optimization of Raw Material Processes Throughout the Value Chain, will take place from 10:30 to 12:30 and will feature a strategic dialogue covering the entire spectrum of raw materials management—from extraction to recycling.

Moderated by Susana Xará, Project Adviser at the European Commission, the event aims to foster a strategic exchange of ideas among project leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. The clustering format will facilitate synergies between projects working on critical raw materials (CRMs) and set the stage for future collaborations across the continent. The session will present the collaborative efforts of five prominent projects that exemplify Europe’s commitment to sustainable development in the mining sector:

Passenger – Presented by Stefania Vitale (passenger-project.eu)

Reeproduce – Ana María Martínez (reeproduce.eu)

Rotate – Lorena Viladés (rotateproject.eu)

SCIMIN-CRM – César Luaces (scimin.eu)

DigiEcoQuarry – José Eugenio Ortiz (digiecoquarry.eu)

These innovative projects contribute uniquely to advancing the EU’s green transition by integrating digital technologies, optimizing resource efficiency, and strengthening the circular economy.

Stakeholders from across Europe and beyond are invited to attend the event online. Registration is open via the Zoom platform at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_BosDRRP1TK2FC6FngfyEpg

The CRM4EU Clustering Event represents a key milestone in Europe’s strategy to secure sustainable access to raw materials. It aligns with broader goals under the European Green Deal and industrial resilience strategies.
