On the last 26th May, during the VI Spanish National Aggregates Congress held in Oviedo, took place the first workshop of the European project DIGIECOQUARRY.

The session consisted of eight presentations in which the general aspects of the project were presented, as well as some of the advanced techniques, machinery, and concepts on which it is based.

The program was as follows:

  • Drill to mill concept implementation by Pablo Segarra Catasús, Associate Professor at ETSI Minas y Energía of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
  • Digitalisation in surface drilling equipment by Enrique Mota López, General Manager at Sandvik Ibérica Mining and Rock Technology.
  • Automation of an aggregates’ treatment plant by Sergio Alonso Aznar, director at ARCO MET 7 and ARCO ELECTRÓNICA.
  • DIGIECOQUARRY: the future of the aggregates sector is already the present by Lorena Viladés Santos, ANEFA’s project department and DIGIECOQUARRY’s coordination team.
  • Digitalisation in the aggregates industry – Implementation, uses and success stories by Paulo Romero Martínez, ANEFA’s project department and DIGIECOQUARRY’s coordination team.
  • DIGIECOQUARRY as a tool for monitoring the activities of the mobile fleet in mining by Diego Ignacio Laza Martín, Mining Project Manager of abaut.
  • Vision of DIGIECOQUARRY’s pilots by Paolo Zambianchi, Manager at Holcim Italy.
  • Digitalisation and cooperation in the DIGIECOQUARRY Project by José Eugenio Ortiz Menéndez, Chair Professor at ETSI Minas y Energía of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.

This series of lectures attracted a large group of attendees who are also committed to the digitalisation of the sector and perceive DIGIECOQUARRY as a pioneering system in the mining sector.
