The UPM-AI group, which is part of DigiEcoQuarry, the project funded by the European Commission and led by ANEFA, has received an important award in the actúaupm competition. This event aims to recognize the best projects with differentiating talent that are also innovative in the transfer of technology and knowledge to industry and society (with social and economic impact). The UPM-AI group deals specifically with the development of artificial intelligence for inventory management through a fast and automated solution, managing to calculate volumes of mining material from any camera, thus obtaining greater efficiency and accuracy has been the winning proposal. The Rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, José de Guillermo Cisneros, presented the award to the team of researchers at an official ceremony organized for this purpose.

This edition, to which more than 220 proposals were submitted, is one of the main activities of the actúaupm Entrepreneurship Programme and is open to students, professors, and researchers of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. actúaupm’s goals are:

  • Detect innovative and/or differentiating business ideas and contribute to the formation of entrepreneurial teams.
  • Capture differentiating talent and contribute to its development.
  • Develop innovative business models with social and economic impact.
  • Promote the transfer of knowledge and technology from the University of Madrid.
